Hi! My name is Lia Lubinsky. I'm a lighting designer for concerts, live events and theatre.
I was born and raised in Westerville, Ohio at the age of zero. When I was three, my parents put me into piano lessons, and sparked a life long obsession with music. By the age of six, I was putting on concerts in my room for my family. That's when they found out that I would not become a famous singer. I still had a few years to discover that.
During high school, I joined my theater troope, where I found lighting design as a medium of live entertainment where I was able to be involved, while not being in the spotlight. Since then, I have had many exciting opportunities to work towards my career of lighting design, the biggest stride being accepted for the Theatre Design and Production major at UC-CCM.
During my college career, I have had many opportunities to work on academic productions in a wide variety of roles and positions. The experience I have gained from working with fellow student and faculty creatives has been invaulable. On top of my college experience, this past summer I got the chance to work with the team at 4Wall in Los Angeles, California. During my internship, I learned so much about what goes into making a live production possible and all the people behind making a design a reality. This past November I also got the amazing opportunity to be a lighting intern at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Peacock theatre in Los Angeles, California.
